COMMUNITY MEETING
At the Safety Meeting on January 29th, Detective Steve Etter gave us much information and many things to think about. The bottom line of all of it was that the ball is in our park, so to speak. It is up to us now to decide what we will do with the information we have.
A lively discussion was held at the monthly meeting of the Social Club, but more ideas need to be suggested and more discussion needs to be done before our plans are solidified. For this reason, we are scheduling a meeting for the whole community to follow-up on ideas suggested by Detective Etter, and ideas we ourselves might come up with. Arlene Klish, Ron Thomas, and Ed Simon will help guide our discussion. It will take the form of a brainstorming session, with as many ideas as possible being presented.
As a result of this meeting, it is hoped that a steering committee can be formed to implement those suggestions the group can agree need to be done.
If you have any suggestions or opinions about safety issues, you need to be at this meeting. We had a full house when Detective Etter was here.
We need the input of everyone in this follow-up session. The meeting with Detective Etter will bring no results if we do not do our part and follow through on the various suggestions we have received.
This follow-up Community Safety Meeting will be held Monday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM. Please make plans to be there. We need to all pull together for the good of ourselves and our community.
NEW FEATURE
We have another new feature this month in the newsletter. Jim and Bonnie Rose and Bill and Kathy Furgason are the Welcoming Committee. They are now visiting new residents to welcome them to our community. They take them a small gift and provide tickets to the next community breakfast.
We will be providing a list of those visited, so that you can also welcome them.
It really makes a difference to know that your neighbors are glad you are here.
If you know of someone new, let one of the committee members know, so they can call on them.

LONGVIEW HILLS SOCIAL CLUB
Discussion was held regarding the safety meeting held January 29th. In order to figure out where we want to go from here, a follow-up brainstorming meeting is scheduled for March 3rd at 6:00 PM.
There were 7 new residents at the welcoming party on February 14th. Glen Pardis has made name badges for the new residents.
Calendar items were discussed. The ladies coffee will be on the last Tuesday of every month at 10:00 AM. Betty Hanus reported that bridge is being played every Wednesday from 2:00 until 4:30 PM. There are two bridge tables going and possibly a third to come.
Ron Thomas announced that we can put pictures on the LVH website.
Peg Rosica asked if a bazaar is planned for this year. No plans are being made for one.
There has been a problem with someone taking down sign-up sheets. This creates problems for the people who are responsible for the activity. We would appreciate it if whoever is doing this would stop.

There was no report from the Sunshine Committee this month. Bette Owens has been involved with the health concerns of her husband, Jack, who just had surgery. Kathy Furgason also just had surgery. You may want to send them a card to let them know you are thinking of them.

LADIES COFFEE
We had a good group at the Coffee on February 25th hosted by Jean Hart. Thank you, Jean. We will be meeting the last Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM. If you would be willing to host a Coffee, please use the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

I came to Oregon from Southern California in 1990. I was a Corporate Relocation Broker there for several years and finally decided I wanted a slower paced life in a beautiful small area. After 3 years of travel, I settled in Newport.
I recharged and decided to go back into Real Estate. I have always enjoyed meeting new people and working in an environment that changes every day.

I am primarily working in Longview Hills now and consider it a privilege to be associated with so many great people. In my opinion, it’s the best Park on the Oregon Coast.

ADULT CPR AND FIRST AID
The American Red Cross is offering classes in Adult CPR and First Aid at their facility located at 308 SW Coast Highway. The cost is $38 for both sessions or $32 for only CPR. The first aid card you receive is good for 3 years and the CPR card is good for 1 year. In addition to CPR certification, you will also be certified for AED (automatic electronic defibrillator). These are the new defibrillators that are now being required in public buildings.
The March classes are from 6:00 to 10:00 PM on:
Monday, 10th, CPR
Wednesday 12th, First Aid
Monday, 24th, CPR
Wednesday 26th, First Aid
There are day classes for both certifications from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Friday, the 14th and Saturday, the 22nd. Mornings are the CPR classes and afternoons are first aid.
If you are interested, but can’t attend in March, there are classes scheduled each month through June. Contact the Red Cross for additional class schedules, or if you want to sign up for any of those in March. The number is 265-7182.
FREE TAX HELP
The Adult Activity Center is offering free tax help from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays, March 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th. For more information call 265-9617. No appointment is necessary.
LOANER MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
We have medical equipment for loan in the stock room of the clubhouse. There are: two walkers, a footed cane, crutches, two bath chairs, a foot tent, back rest and raised toilet seat.
If you would like to make a donation to our collection, please call Betty Hanus at 265-7433. If you currently have any of our medical equipment out on loan, please let Betty Hanus know, so we know where all of our equipment is and who is using it.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY
Chairperson, Alice McClellan, and the Longview Hills Social Club invite all our Irish residents - and those who wish they were Irish - to a gathering of the clan on Monday, March 17th at 5:00 PM for drinks, and dinner at 6:00 PM.
The Social Club will pop for corned beef and cabbage - and will rely on your potluck instincts for salads, desserts, and finger foods with drinks. Express your delight by filling in the appropriate sign-up sheets. Then count down the days until March 17th and the celebration of the season.
